Married 18 Years, Parents of 4 Are Both Diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer

One Alabama couple, Kevin and Wendy Wilson, were both diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in the same week. The news comes as a blow—the parents of 4 who’ve been married 18 years say they have a lot of life left to live. Their kids think so too.

Wendy isn’t a stranger to cancer. She’s battled it since 2004 and even underwent a double mastectomy in 2017. She recently learned she now has stage 4 breast cancer, which has spread to several areas in her body.

"I’ve had ovarian, cervical and breast cancer, and then, this time, with breast cancer,” Wendy said.

Just a week before, Kevin found out he had stage 4 prostate cancer.

Their GoFundMe page says they are “the kind of people who give without asking, who love without limits, and who never stop fighting for their family.”

A Reason for Fighting

“To be honest, it’s my kids,” Wendy said. “I’m not done seeing them grow.”

“I’m not done seeing them graduate high school or continue the legacy of us,” she said. “So, that’s my strength: showing them that no matter what you’re faced with, you have to meet it head on and do the best you can, and if you can’t you’re going to go down fighting.”

The Family Needs All the Support They Can Get

Their youngest kid, Savannah, says her family needs all the support they can get.

"Anything can turn bad quickly,” Savannah said. “No matter what you have going on, always check on your family and your loved ones.”

Both Kevin and Wendy are still working to support themselves and their kids.

Given their situation, Wendy warns that her town of Millbrook, in Alabama, must be a particularly hazardous place to live.

The Wilsons Share Their Battle

The Wilsons are documenting their cancer journey on TikTok.

Wendy gave an update on her health on June 25th. She cleared a brain MRI, but her PET scan showed “hot spots” in her lymph nodes, under her arms, and in the groin area. The good news is that her organs are clear.

Asking For Prayers

“Treatment will be chemo… mixed with two other drugs… the treatments will be two weeks on, one week off…” she said. “I’ve got to get a port, got to do an echocardiogram, and I think we have a pending appointment for Kevin to find out what his test results were.”

She also asked for prayers and thanked those who’ve been keeping up with their journey.

The couple’s GoFundMe has raised $29k out of a $75k goal to pay for health care, supplies, time off from work, and household expenses.

Please pray for this courageous couple and their children, who dearly love and need them.
