Doctors Amazed at Baby Born Unharmed with Umbilical Cord Wrapped Around His Neck 6 Times

A baby with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck 6 times arrived safely despite the dangerous entanglement. And this miracle baby is amazing everyone!

They don’t call it the ‘miracle of childbirth’ for no reason! Being able to hold such a sweet, small, and innocent baby in your hands is a life-changing experience. Sometimes it can be scary giving birth though because a lot of things can go wrong.

A young mother, by the name of Dai had just given birth at Yichang Hospital. Dai’s baby had the umbilical cord wrapped around its neck not once, but six times. This occurrence is called nuchal cord, recorded in 12% Of pregnancies 24-26 weeks, and 37% of pregnancies full term and is usually caused when the fetus has a lot of movement in the womb.  

Li Hua, Director of Obstetrics said,  "I have been working for 23 years, and this is the first time I have seen an umbilical cord wrapped around a baby's neck like this.”

The umbilical cord was cut from the baby’s neck and luckily there was not a huge impact on its health from it.

"To find the umbilical cord wrapped around the baby's neck is not uncommon and if it's long enough, will usually not cause problems,” Li added.  

Dai thanked the medics, and said, “I’m glad that my baby was born with no problem.”

Dai has certainly had some interesting and unique experiences during childbirth, but her child is happy and healthy, and that is what really matters!
