Job Offered By Lowe's To Unemployed Man And His Service Dog

A Job For A Man And His Service Dog

Sometimes people just need a chance. After suffering a brain injury, Owen was having trouble getting a job. His dog, Blue, really helped him deal with stress. But the trouble was finding a place of employment that would understand. Thankfully, Lowe's did and decided to hire them both! They even made sure Blue got his very own vest!
The Facebook announcement was met with tons of support from people touched by the fact that the retail chain was willing to accommodate Owen's special needs. But the true gratitude sets in when you hear what a blessing the opportunity was from Owen himself. As a teenager, Owen made some really bad decisions when it came to alcohol. At 15, he wound up in a car accident and was in a coma for 4 months. Now, the 55-year-old still deals with the effects from the brain damage.
“I felt like I was second-class citizen for a long time because, ‘Oh, he’s got a brain injury,’ ” Owen recalls.
He even says that one job in the past was paying him $5 less per hour than his fellow co-workers simply because of his disability. But God sent Owen a 4-legged angel to help! godupdates lowes give man and service dog a job 1 Credit: Facebook Blue is a 10-year-old mixed breed service dog who Owen says trained himself. Aside from being Owen's best friend, Blue is there to help him deal with stress.
"He knows me better than I know myself. He’s got a sixth sense,” Owen lovingly says.

“Now Lowe’s is treating me like a normal person,” he says. "I am so grateful to them."

A Prayer for Dealing with Family Rejection This Holiday Season - Your Daily Prayer - December 5

One of the best times of the year can also be one of the most difficult. Harvest décor leads into Christmas bells and lights. We fill the calendar slots with parties and events. This can create a low-level hum of anxiety if the upcoming family get-togethers feel like a risky walk through a minefield.
