Keanu Reeves' Inspiring Life Story Is Also Heartbreaking

Keanu Reeves, an A-list Hollywood movie star, has experienced pain and heartache throughout life but that has not let that keep him from constantly showing kindness and generosity to others.

Sadly, life is not all sunshine and roses. Life can often be a rough experience filled with loss, suffering and sadness. Some seem to have been given more than their fair share of tragedies.

Actor Keanu Reeves is an individual well familiar with loss. However, despite what he has experienced, Keanu has still managed to overcome it and become one of the biggest movie stars on the planet.

Even as a young child, Keanu experienced loss, according to the New Zealand Herald. Keanu’s father left him and his family when he was only a toddler, at 3 years old. The outlet adds that the last time the 59-year-old John Wick star saw his father was when he was 13. 

Keanu’s early life struggles also included school, according to Looper. He has dyslexia and never received a high school diploma despite attending four different high schools in five years.

He admits he was an OK student. But it was his behavior at school which landed him in trouble.

“I had conflicts and run-ins with the staff,” Keanu said. “The principal and I didn't see eye to eye. I was one of those 'Why? Kids' — I asked too many questions about everything. I couldn't stop even if it got me into trouble. I wanted my autonomy, and if you wanted to impose something on me, then you and I would have a problem."

Keanu Has Experienced Massive Loss and Heartache in Life

Keanu has also had several people close to him pass away. When he was still an upcoming actor, Keanu experienced the loss of a close friend and fellow actor River Phoenix, who died due to an overdose, Screen Geek reports. 

In the late 1990s, Keanu and his girlfriend, Jennifer Syme, learned they were expecting. Unfortunately for the couple, the child was born stillborn. Not too after this tragedy, Jennifer was sadly killed in a car crash.

But despite everything, Keanu has starred in films like “Speed,” “The Matrix” movies and the “John Wick” franchise. Despite all the fame and the millions of dollars he has made, he seems to have remained humble and kind.

Actor Keanu Reeves' Acts of Kindness

There a several stories detailing the actor’s kindness and generosity. Insider reports that in 2019, after a plane he was on, which was scheduled to stop in Los Angeles, made an emergency landing. He stuck around and posed for pictures with his fellow passengers to help make their days a little brighter, even though he could have easily used his fame to make a quick exit.

Additionally, Keanu arranged for a vehicle for passengers headed to San Francisco to take everyone to their intended destination. 

One video posted on Facebook also mentions that Keanu even spent time eating and chatting with a homeless man. It’s also been reported that the star has started and donates to a private foundation that helps to fund cancer research.

These are just some of the many ways that Keanu has shown love and kindness to his fellow man, even after he has experienced such devastating loss and pain.
