They Were Told Their Pup Had Been Hit By a Car, 4 Years Later They Found Her Alive

A Miami family thought they lost an important member after their little Maltipoo disappeared 4 years ago. They were told Sugar got hit by a car and died. But by some miracle, they found their dog alive years later.

Found Dog Alive After Being Believed Dead for 4 Years

About 4 years ago, Albania Sagarra and her family put up missing posters and offered a $1,000 reward for their beloved dog. The only news they got was a phone call from a man claiming he saw Sugar get hit by a car going 70 to 80 mph.

Then, 4 years later, Albania found Sugar in an animal shelter.

“I looked at her and I couldn’t even believe it was her because, for four years, we thought she was dead,” Albania said. “... I’m just very happy and soaking up every moment with Sugar because this is like a resurrection I would have never imagined.”

A Bittersweet Reunion Between Pet and Owner

In a video of their reunion, Albania cried happy tears as she held the dog.

However, it was a bittersweet reunion because Albania soon learned Sugar is terminally ill and underweight. Sugar has stage 4 heart disease and stage 4 kidney disease.

Albania doesn’t know how long Sugar will live, but it's clear the poor dog is not as happy and energetic as she used to be.

“She’s back where she belongs and I’m happy that, at least the remainder of her days, she’ll be with her family,” Albania said.

Albania Has Gratitude and Unanswered Questions

The dog’s family believes Sugar was neglected and abandoned. They say she was left outside the shelter.

Albania is missing answers and wants to know who took Sugar to the shelter, but she's just happy that she's home—even if it may not be for long.

How sweet it is that Sugar’s family was reunited with her before she passed. She may not have long to live, but now, she will be able to enjoy her last days a little better and pass peacefully. It may not be the best ending one could hope for, but after believing their dog dead for so many years, Sugar’s family is indeed grateful.
