A Very Special ‘Thank You’

This is Mint. She’s a lovely young woman who just won a beauty pageant in her hometown of Thailand.

But it’s not her looks that make her beautiful. It’s her humble and appreciative attitude that steals the show. And her first order of business after being crowned was to return home and thank the person who made it all possible -- her mom.

In a photo that has made its way around the globe, 17-year-old Mint kneels in a display of deep respect and gratitude to her single mother. The dedicated mom has spent her life gathering trash and recyclables, all so that her daughter could live out her dreams.

Mint grew up in poverty, a fact she’s never been ashamed of, and worked right alongside her mom to help the struggling family.

After graduating high school, there was not enough money to send Mint to college. Friends recommended she enter the Miss Uncensored News Thailand beauty pageant, and she decided to give it a try, though she never expected to win.

But that’s just what she did! And after being honored with a glittering crown and the winning sash, Mint didn’t waste any time making her way back home to thank the person who’d sacrificed so much in hopes of seeing her succeed.

"What I have today is because of my mother” Mint says. “She and I make a living by doing honest work, so there is no reason why I should feel inferior."
