Mom Praises God After Pregnancy Reveals A Large Mass In Chest And Saves Her Life

A mom praises God after pregnancy reveals a large mass in her chest and saves her life.

Pregnancy not only creates life, but in miraculous stories like Brittany Locker, it sustains life too. Brittany Locker had just given birth to her daughter Liv. She was absolutely enamored with her new little girl. But something felt off.

“I had my daughter without an epidural, so I wasn’t sure if what I was feeling was part of recovery or not,” she said. This was the second time Brittany had given birth. She knew no two pregnancies or deliveries were the same. Yet, a still, small voice was telling her she needed to get help.

Pregnancy Reveals Life-Threatening Mass

For several days, Brittany had a cough and felt breathless. During a newborn baby photoshoot, her photographer noticed that Brittany wasn’t feeling well and insisted she sought medical help right away. Especially since she was only seven days past giving birth.

Only 11 days after giving birth, Brittany Locker learned she had a large mass in her chest pressing on her heart. Then she learned her daughter had saved her life.

During pregnancy, a mother carries an additional two liters of blood, which helped her “heart beat properly.” This natural phenomenon is what saved her life.

Every doctor she met told Brittany that carrying her daughter saved her life.

“As soon as I found out about the mass, I was in complete shock and denial. I then had an MRI and met with the cardiothoracic surgeon, and he showed me that it was completely compressing the right side of my heart. All I wanted was for it to come out so that I could feel better and live a happy, healthy life with my babies,” she said.

Doctors Remove Mass In The Chest Of New Mom

Brittany underwent surgery to remove the mass in her chest around her heart. She is doing well and thanks God for her daughter. She said,  "Liv has shown me to not take another day for granted and that time is precious. The scar has messed with my head a little bit adjusting in terms of body image, but I now have a daughter that I will teach to love her body no matter what happens, and I am extremely grateful every day for being alive."

The mass in Brittany's chest was benign and the whole experience only brought her and her family closer to God.

"We could feel the presence of God in our home with the power of prayer," she recalled on Instagram. "God is so good."

Brittany’s story reflects how miraculous carrying a child is. We get to bring life into the world that changes us for the better.

A Prayer for Generosity toward Those in Need during Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 8

When we look at all that God has given us despite what we have done to him, it humbles us. It makes us want to give generously because he gave everything for us.
