In this miracle story, doctors rush to save a baby born with a tumor on the spine that’s twice her size. 

Doctors seemingly gave Baby Saylor Thomson a death sentence the day her parents got to see her for the first time on the ultrasound. It was then her parents, Rachel and Kieran, learned Saylor had a tumor growing on her back. Saylor’s chances of survival were “25 to 40 percent which happens in 1 of 40,000 births.”

Despite the advances in technology, not all doctors know everything. They didn’t know God had plans for baby Saylor to defy the odds and human understanding. Tucked away in her mother’s womb, God was already at work writing this sweet little child’s story of how she would be birthed to live, grow, and thrive. 

'When the social worker and surgeons first gathered to tell us she had little chance of making it due to prematurity and the tumor, I cried hysterically,' Rachel said.

Professor Kumar said, “Saylor's tumor was extremely large and very complex. The tumor extended into her pelvis and abdomen. Many of these babies do not survive the pregnancy.”

Doctors Race To Save Baby With Tumor On The Spine

Saylor was born three months premature with a tumor that weighed doubled her birth weight at 1,025 grams. She then had a six-hour surgery that included 25 of the best medical professionals. Even then she was surprising everyone with her will to live. Saylor was proving to be a fierce little girl. 

Today, Saylor is nearly three months old and thriving at home with no side effects from being born with a tumor on the spine. Her doctors say she’s lucky to be alive. Praise God for the way he creates us, carries us, and teaches us that his ways are higher than our ways. Saylor has one amazing life to live.
