The two police officers pictured are actually of Brittany and her husband, Steven. In addition to raising 4 daughters, both Brittany and Steven are full-time police officers in Texas, working hard to serve and protect their community. And after a local business owner had some not so nice things to say about law enforcement, Brittany felt compelled to open up and let people see who was on the other side of the badge that is so often targeted. My husband and I both decided to work, giving up time with our family so the community would be safe. Think before you speak. Your words could promote deadly actions.

It's human nature to focus more on the negative rather than the positive. And that's part of why it's so great to see Brittany's post being liked and shared by so many people. Her powerful post focuses on all of the good that the badge represents, and how many brave officers we have out there that are truly dedicated to making a difference. Since posting, Brittany has gotten her share of hateful and even threatening comments. She and her husband are understanding of the fact that not everyone has had positive experiences with police officers. But she and Steven just want people to understand that the majority of the police officers out there are just regular, good-hearted people trying to serve their community.

"If she did have a bad experience you know, that's sad,” her husband says, regarding the local business owner that bashed law enforcement. "But we're really just like her. Trying to go out and do a job and come home to a family.”

And so, Brittany chooses to pray for the "haters." But the flood of support and kind words has been overwhelming, far outweighing the nasty messages received.
