A Photo Of A Grocery Store Cake Is Going Viral For All The Right Reasons

But Lisa just shared an experience she had at the grocery store that serves as a great reminder that you should never been too busy for kindness! In the midst of her crazy life, Lisa was also responsible for getting a cake for an upcoming birthday party. No big deal -- she figured she could easily pick one up from the bakery section of the grocery store. Like most stores these days, they had plenty of festive cakes to choose from. Credit: Meijer When she arrived at the story, she headed straight for the bakery section and found a cake. She took it to the first employee she encountered in the section if she could write a birthday message on the blank cake for her. The girl agreed, and took the cake from Lisa. [rsnippet id="3" name="Article-Ad"] After a while, the store employee emerged from the back and handed Lisa her cake. Lisa smiled and kindly thanked the girl before ever looking at the cake. When she finally looked down, she was quite surprised by what she saw. Credit: Facebook She gave a nervous laugh since it wasn’t quite what she’d envisioned. But Lisa figured folks at the party would still appreciate the cake, and would probably find the way it was decorated funny. So, she headed for the check out. But when the cashier and manager saw the cake, they didn’t think it was funny. Concerned that Lisa was disappointed, they repeatedly offered to get her a new cake, which Lisa repeatedly declined. She didn’t realize why her acceptance of this cake was such a big deal until one of the cashiers put their arm on Lisa’s shoulder saying,

“The girl who wrote that has Autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her. Even though she's not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day."

Credit: Facebook Well, in case you were curious, the cake was delicious -- proving that it’s not what you see on the outside that matters. And Lisa, realizing this special moment had been sent to her by God, shared the experience on Facebook, finishing the post by saying,

“So I guess the moral of the story is that kindness is important!”

  And to Lisa’s surprise, God has used her post to spread that very moral to thousands of people. To date, her original post has been shared over 150,000 times, and Lisa has been flooded with messages of gratitude from people far and wide who have a loved one who has Autism. And Lisa continues to give all of the glory to God, saying,

“I didn't do anything special. Be nice. That is all. I can't believe how awesome God is that he is using this story to bless so many people! God is so, so good.”

God IS good, and kindness always matters. It may sound cliche, but grace is so important because you never truly know what path another person may be walking. It only takes a minute to be kind, but it can leave a wonderful impression that lasts a lifetime. You never know when that simple, kind gesture may be just what the other person needed in their life and in that moment.

“And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31
