Golden Buzzer Putri Ariani Returns To Stage With ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’
A young woman with a physical disability put on a stunning musical display with her rendition of a classic from the band U2 on America’s Got Talent.
The current season of America’s Got Talent continues moving, heading toward its inevitable conclusion where a new winner will be crowned. Those remaining contestants must constantly raise their game, showing audiences and the judges that they deserve to stay on the show.
Putri Ariani, a blind 17-year-old from Indonesia, returned to the AGT stage after winning Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer and put on another show-stopping performance. Her cover of U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” went in a dramatically different, but welcomed direction from the original.
While sitting at a piano on a darkened stage, Putri Ariana put on a performance that will be hard to top. She slowed the song way, way down. Putri does tickle the ivories throughout the performance, but the focus is on her remarkable, outstanding voice.
Whenever you think the young performer has done all she possibly can with her voice, she surprises. Several times throughout the nearly 3-minute performance, Putri leans back and lets loose, hitting, reaching and then holding high not after high note.
The young woman is a star, and the studio audience and the judges let Putri know how they feel about what they just witnessed.
At the end of her song, she receives a standing ovation from everyone in the room. The round of applause is deafening.
Simon called her performance the reason he continues to do America’s Got Talent.
“Putri, I’m actually kind of speechless right now,” Simon said. “Look, you know what? What I was thinking was, first of all, how, what a beautiful voice you’ve got, what a beautiful version. Honestly, Putri, this is why I still do this job, for moments like this, genuinely.”
Simon’s fellow judge, Sofía Vergara, was also thoroughly impressed.
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard something more beautiful in my life,” she said.
Ephesians 5:19 “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord:”
