One judge on The Voice was overcome with emotion during the performance of one notable contestant.

Programs like American Idol, America’s Got Talent and The Voice are concerned with  finding the best talent. They are all about uncovering a talent that others may have missed or overlooked. The best singers and musicians will always come out on top with those types of shows. However, being television shows, they are also interested in creating special, one-of-a-kind, emotional and dramatic moments. 

During an episode of The Voice Kids Portugal, one of the program’s judges shed more than a few tears during one blind audition. Soon after the music begins, the judge, Fernando Daniel, recognizes the song. It’s one of his, according to a YouTube English translation.

But seconds later, Fernando picks up on another familiar aspect of the audition. He quickly recognizes the voice. It’s that of his nephew. Fernando is nearly instantly overcome with emotion as he begins brushing away the tears from his eyes.

Then, about 45 seconds into the clip, Fernando stands up, turns around and takes in his young relative’s audition as he performs one of Fernando’s songs. This audition qualifies as one of those special, one-of-a-kind moments that tug at viewers' heartstrings.

The studio audience gives the young man a rousing round of applause. Fernando, touched by his nephew’s performance, runs up to the young man and gives him a warm and loving embrace. 

Fernando and his nephew, at approximately the 3-minute mark in the clip, sing a duet to the very same song.
