16-Year-Old Yodeler Earns 4-Chair Turn With Unique Blind Audition

A young woman showed off her impressive and unique musical talent with a stunning audition on The Voice that caused all four judges to sit up, take notice and turn their chairs.

Talent can take many different shapes and forms. It can also come in ways in places that we least expect it. The Lord has graciously and lovingly given everyone gifts and skills, and those talents are unique to each individual. No two people are blessed in the exact same areas.

Ruby Leigh, a 16-year-old from Missouri, with her blind audition on The Voice, showed the Lord has blessed her with a unique and not-often-heard form of singing: yodeling.

She sang, strummed on the guitar and even yodeled while performing Patsy Montana’s “I Want to be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart.” Her audition was absolutely stunning! The immensely talented young woman got all four judges – John Legend, Gwen Stefani, Niall Horan and Reba McEntire – to turn their chairs for her.

It's not long into her audition when the judges begin flipping their chairs around for Ruby. About 15 seconds into her song, John Legend has heard enough. He’s the first judge to turn for her.

Once the young woman starts yodeling, Reba doesn’t waste time. She hits her button, sending her chair toward the young, talented performer. Gwen and Niall are not too far behind Reba as they also turn their chairs, signaling their interest in and amazement at Ruby’s musical abilities.

At the end of her audition, everyone is on their feet, applauding Ruby Leigh for her unbelievable performance.

When it comes time for the judges to try and convince Ruby to select them as her coach, they pull out all the stops. They are all amazed by her and mention so constantly. Gwen and Reba even attempt to relate to the young woman by showing they also can yodel.

However, in the end, Ruby selects Reba McEntire as her coach and mentor on this season of The Voice
