16-Year-Old Stuns Judges With Powerful Katy Perry Cover Performance On American Idol - Audition Videos

One young woman, a 16-year-old, showed off her impressive pipes when she covered a hit from Katy Perry during her audition for American Idol.

Performing in front of people and working up the courage to do so is a monumental task for most people. It’s such a fear that most would rather stay on the sideline instead of showing off their God-given abilities. Sadly, the fear of failure will keep a lot of people from trying something they are totally equipped to do.

But that was not the case for Hailey Mia. She demonstrated that she is 100% without fear when it comes to performing. Not only did she sing in front of Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and Katy Perry, but Hailey covered one of Katy’s songs in front of her. 

In a clip posted on YouTube, Hailey beautifully sang Katy’s tune “Rise.” Hailey, basically from the second she opened her mouth to begin singing, showed that she had been blessed with an abundance of talent. Her voice is far beyond her young age. Her voice sounds like something that would be heard on the radio right now.

The young woman hit some impressively high notes that caused Katy to sit up and take notice. About halfway through Hailey’s performance, Katy looked at her arms and legs, almost as if she had gotten goosebumps. Later, when giving the young woman feedback, Katy confirmed that did happen.

“Full body chills, even in places where I’ve been botoxed,” Katy said.

But the biggest compliment came from Luke.

“Definitely potential for top 10, in my opinion,” he said.

With such high praise, it’s no surprise that Hailey received three very emphatic yes votes, sending her to the next round of the competition.
