This Mom and Daughter Share Life at a Retirement Community, and it is Quite a Special Thing

Some very special family members in New York are enjoying a mother-daughter bond that most people don’t get to experience at their ages. The mother and her daughter both live in the same Rochester retirement center. They get to see each other every day and spend quality time with their friends and neighbors—and they just love it.

A Truly Special Mother-Daughter Bond

It’s the first time that the mother and daughter have lived together for over five decades, so their Mother’s Day celebration this year was extra special.

“I'm so happy that I could be with my daughter here every day, every minute," said Julia Menichelli, who is 92. 

Her daughter, 67-year-old Pamela, feels the same way. They have quite the mother-daughter bond.

It’s an ‘Awesome’ Experience to Live Together

“I am so lucky to have my mom,” Pamela said. “I mean, all my friends my age don't have their mom, and I have my mom. For 67 years, it's great, it's awesome.”

They moved from Weschester, New York, to Legacy at Clover Blossom in Rochester, NY, to be closer to Pamela’s children and grandchildren. Now when the grandkids visit, they’ll get a two-for-one special—grandma and great-grandma. 

The pair looks just alike, too. They both wear glasses and have the same hairstyle. You can tell right away they are related. 

A Peaceful, Happy Future in Their Retirement Community

They both feel very fortunate to live together and are proud to say they are related. Just as much as they are mother and daughter, Julia says they are also great friends. 

It is just incredible that this mother and daughter get to enjoy each other’s company. It’s obvious that they aren’t putting on any show. They truly do love each other deeply and want each other around. What a blessing that they get to have this kind of experience in their older years! I hope the rest of the years they have together are blissful and happy.
