Every year, the world looks forward to the holiday advertisements from John Lewis, a high-end department store in the UK. From elaborate sets to cinematic stories, the commercials are more like mini-movies.

As the years have gone by, the productions have only gotten better. Now it’s become a tradition that many wait for. This year, John Lewis introduces us to Excitable Edgar. He is a fire-breathing dragon that has a bad habit of getting too excited and letting out fire.
Normally, this happens at the worst possible moments, like during the lighting of the town Christmas tree. Another time, Edgar was so happy to see the children ice skating that his fire melted the whole rink into a puddle.

Eventually, Edgar realized that he was ruining everyone else’s good time so he locked himself away in his home. But, his best friend, Ava, knew that no one should be by themselves, especially at Christmas time.
That’s when she found the perfect present for Edgar so that he would be able to enjoy the holidays with friends and family. It was such a sweet moment that showcases the caring nature of our loved ones.

Even though this is an advertisement for a department store, it still manages to inspire and remind us all of the true reason for the season. Christmas is not about presents, it’s about celebrating the birth of our Savior and spending time with the ones we hold dear.
