Classic Performance Of ‘Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good’ From Don Williams
One country music legend performed a classic song in which he makes a direct, simple request of the Lord.
In life, there are pleasant, happy and bliss-filled occasions. Unfortunately, life can also be a difficult and arduous experience. Unexpected hurdles and obstacles can crop up, making for a painful and miserable day, week, month and even year. It can become so overwhelming, to the point where a little reprieve, such as a day, would be much welcomed.
However, in God’s Word, in Philippians 4:6, believers are instructed to bring their requests to the Lord. “In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God,” the verse reads.
Country music singer Don Williams, in his song “Lord, I Hope This Day is Good,” makes a request that most people have likely asked God for at one time or another.
In the opening verse, Don immediately sets the stage, creating a situation to which many people can relate. It can feel as if our prayers have fallen on deaf ears, that God does not hear our requests. It’s not something most people would happily admit, but it does happen. Situations in life can cause people to question God and His plan.
The song’s chorus details another experience, in which most people have likely found themselves. Some days, while we know and understand that we should be praising and thanking the Lord for another day, we simply need the strength to carry on.
“Lord, I hope this day is good
I’m feeling empty and misunderstood
I should be thankful, Lord, I know I should”
Don’s song is a catchy little tune that perfectly captures the mood and place where people can often find themselves during life’s tough, trying periods. Sometimes all we need from God is a good day to help get us through.
Mark 11:24 “For this reason, I say to you, ‘Whatever you make a request for in prayer, have faith that it has been given to you, and you will have it.’”
