Tasha Layton Releases New Short Film for 'Meet Me In The Valley'
May 08, 2026

NASHVILLE, TENN. / SEATTLE, WASH. (MAY 07, 2026)
Singer-songwriter, author, and worship leader Tasha Layton is inviting audiences into one of the most personal seasons of her life with the premiere of a new short film inspired by her latest single, “Meet Me In The Valley.” The film offers an intimate look at Layton’s journey into stillness, surrender, and spiritual renewal as she stepped away from the noise of everyday life to seek a deeper connection with God.
Earlier this year, Layton spent three days alone in Death Valley National Park in California, home to the lowest point in North America at 282 feet below sea level. What began as a personal retreat quickly became a transformative experience marked by reflection, healing, and faith. The 30-minute film captures the raw moments and revelations that unfolded during her time in the desert, bringing to life the heart behind her radio single, “Meet Me In The Valley.” The short film was directed by Andrew Abajian.
"For the last year or so, whenever I prayed, I kept hearing God say, 'Get low,'" shares Tasha Layton. "To me, that meant humbly bringing my offering, entering His presence with humility, and being willing to lay anything down if He asked me to. Then came the song 'Meet Me in the Valley,' and the connection could not have been clearer. In that moment, I felt compelled to get low once again, so I made the decision to go to Death Valley to reflect on my past and consider my future. What God did there was astounding, and He met me there."
Originally featured on Layton’s latest studio album, Life In Me, this song gives the listeners a fresh take on the deeply personal anthem. Written by Layton, her husband Keith Everette Smith, Jacob Sooter, and Meredith Andrews, the song serves as a reminder that God faithfully meets people in their lowest valleys and never leaves them alone in their struggles.
The short film premiere was celebrated last week with an exclusive gathering at the new Museum of Christian & Gospel Music. Friends, family, and members of the media came together to support Layton and the project, including fellow artists Terrian, Christy Nockels, Jon Reddick, and Madison Watkins.
