American born Nigerian singer-songwriter KUKU bridges the gap between his Yoruba roots and the western world. His effortless blend of mindful Yoruba lyricism, English, and Pidgin English with percussive guitar progression, and infectious percussions makes up his "Ijebu Cosmopolitan Suite". His 2011/2012 album Soldier of Peace (BÁLÓGUN ÌRÒRÙN) was met with critical acclaim. His version of the legendary Liverpool Football Club anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone was the soundtrack of the ORANGE official sponsored advert for the 2013 African Cup of Nations. KUKU's latest collaboration with Congolese/Belgian rapper Baloji on a reprise of Fela Kuti's 'Buy Africa' is the leading track on the 2013 RED HOT + FELA benefit album by Knitting Factory Records. His latest project, Ballads & Blasphemy, is expected to be released in early 2015.
