All but forgotten today, the Geneva Bible was the most widely read and influential English Bible of the 16th and 17th centuries. In fact it was one of the Bibles taken to America on the Mayflower in 1620.
It followed the Great Bible of 1539 which was the first authorised Bible for the Church of England.
