“Honey in the Rock” Brooke Ligertwood and David Funk Performance

Be reminded of the many gifts and miracles of God as you listen to this performance of “Honey in the Rock” by Brooke Ligertwood and David Funk.

“Honey in the Rock,” written by Brooke Ligertwood, Brandon Lake, and Mitch Wong and recorded in late 2021, points to Old Testament scriptures to provide assurances that He is always there for us. Jasmin Patterson of NewsReleaseToday wrote in March 2022, when the song was released, “Honey in The Rock” is the perfect Contemporary meets Gospel moment, and it will take you straight to church. It’s a joyful declaration of God’s faithful provision in our lives, and the lyrics reference well-known Old Testament stories of miraculous provision.”

Brooke shared with The Promise FM of Northern Michigan,  “It's out of a scripture in Psalm 89, which talks about how the Lord feeds us with honey from the rock. In the wilderness we can still experience sweetness because we trust and know Jesus.”

Here are four lines from the chorus of “Honey in the Rock”:

There's honey in the rock, water in the stone
Manna on the ground, no matter where I go
I don't need to worry now that I know
Everything I need You've got

Brooke is joined here by David Funk, who sings and plays the piano, as well as several other backup singers and instrumentalists—and a host of passionate God-praising individuals in the auditorium. The spirit is definitely in the song and in the room!

At 2:00, Brooke lets her acoustic guitar hang and takes 30 seconds to lift her hands and interact with the audience; however, they are already fully engaged. They know that praying and praising result in moving and proving!

A Grammy award-winning songwriter, producer, and worship leader, Brooke Ligertwood (f/k/a Brooke Fraser) is originally from New Zealand, but she makes her home in California, is a member of Hillsong Church, and leads Hillsong Worship globally.

David Funk grew up in Gainesville, Georgia, and developed a desire to play the piano at a young age, watching his father play with their church’s worship team. He is now a member of the Bethel Music Collective.

“But I would feed you with the finest wheat. I would satisfy you with wild honey from the rock.’” Psalms 81:16

A Prayer for the Anniversary of the Loss of a Loved One - Your Daily Prayer - May 14

Whether death for us comes first or the rapture happens, we will see our loved ones again. And this is the hope that keeps me going every day. Sure, my mom isn’t with me right now; however, Jesus is with me, and He is with her too.
