Born in New York City in the 50s, I grew up an only child in Connecticut. Took piano lessons for 5 years as a kid, then learned guitar when we had to move to a small apartment when I was 15. I went to the first Woodstock Festival in '69; my mom died 6 months later of cancer, and that shook me up for a year. Drugs, weird philosophies, drinking, and general sin plunged me into deep depression; I thought about suicide a few times but knew it wouldn't solve anything. Tried a semester at Boston University School of Engineering but couldn't handle it with my depression. Then I woke one morning with a vivid dream of a cross of lightning bursting into a dark stormy sky, and it got me thinking about Christ. Not long after I ran into an old school buddy who invited me to his house and made me listen to popular songs that talked about Jesus, which was pretty cool and prepared my heart; then one day he invited me to a revival meeting, where I broke down and accepted Christ as my Savior. The Lord has been in my life ever since, and there've been lots of ups and downs through the years, but He's always stayed true to me; and whenever the love in my life has run low, I always knew where to find it. I became an independent missionary traveling with music in many countries for many years, got married and started a family of 9 kids on the mission field, and we now have 3 grandsons. And God has never let me down! My 2003 CD, "By The Blood Of The Lamb", was written during a time of awesome spiritual renewal in my life back in the 80s, then recorded almost 20 years later; those are the songs I now do in concert, focusing on the Cross of Christ and obedience to God.
A Prayer for a Courageous Soul - Your Daily Prayer - April 26
We have been given a remarkable gift through God and His redemption story. Not only have we received eternal life with our Creator, but we have received courage in Christ that will change the trajectory of our lives and the lives of those around us forever.
