Presenting Missionaries/Pastors Rett & Sherrill Bragg: Rett was born in Danville, PA. and grew up in Dobbs Ferry, New York. He is the eldest son of Dr. Everett C. Bragg, an orthopedic surgeon who helped develop the hip replacement surgery. His mother Mary B. Holt Bragg made sure he attended the local Episcopalian Church. He was in the boys choir and was an acolyte. He graduated from Dobbs Ferry High School in 1964. He won a Merit Scholarship to Wagner College and began studying engineering. He also studied history and economics at NYU and Columbia University. He had no clear direction for his life so he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam era. He was introduced to knowing Christ personally as his Lord and Savior through an Afro-American Staff Sergeant named Al White in Denver, CO. in 1965. He received forgiveness of his sins and felt a great burden lifted off his shoulders. He served four years in the Air Force, including one year in Viet Nam. In 1968 he began working in military ministry with the Navigators. In 1969 he attended a summer camp where he heard missionaries from New Tribes Mission speak. He surrendered his heart to missionary service to reach a tribe in South America with the Gospel. In 1970 he moved to San Diego, CA. to continue ministering with the Navigators. While beginning his studies to prepare for the mission field he began attending Christian Heritage College and Scott Memorial Baptist Church in San Diego, CA. There he met Sherrill Ann Hennings who was also committed to serving God on the foreign mission field as her lifes work. They were married at Scott Memorial Baptist Church on June 23, 1973. After finishing his B.S. in Biblical Education at Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon in 1977, he heard about the Ashaninka and Asheninka tribes of Peru, South America. He and Sherrill successfully completed Missionary Spanish Language School at the Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg, TX. In 1978-79. Rett and Sherrill were sent out by churches in San Diego and Los Angeles through the South America Mission in October, 1979. Their three young children, Ruthe- 4 yrs. Old; John 3 yrs. Old; and Mary- 15 mos. accompanied them to Peru and their youngest daughter, Esther, was born in Peru in 1981. Sherrill was born in Phoenix, AZ. in 1949. She grew up there and then in Colorado Springs, CO. She is the firstborn daughter of Gerald and Virginia Hennings. She received Christ as her Savior at age ten yrs. in 1959 during a Daily Vacation Bible School at the Valley Bible Church in Phoenix, AZ. At age eleven she attended a camp in northern Arizona and dedicated her life to reach the nations with the Gospel. She graduated from Wm. J Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, CO. in 1967 and was accepted to attend Biola College (now Biola University) in La Mirada, CA. She began going to the nations at age 18 yrs. old. She was a member of the 1970 Biola Drama Team to the Orient and the 1972 Ghana, West Africa Teaching Team. She graduated with a B.A. in Christian Education in 1971. Her parents moved to San Diego and she began teaching first grade at Clairemont Christian School. She was then asked to serve as secretary to the Pastor of Christian Education at Scott Memorial Baptist Church when Dr. Tim LaHaye was the pastor. She met Rett in the Singles Sunday School class. After Rett posed the question, Are you willing to go the jungles of South America with me?, her answer was a resounding Yes! They have served the Lord together for over 35 years and 29 years in Peru. They give praise to God for the privilege of raising four wonderful children on the mission field who all love the Lord. All have been to the nations and are married to Christian spouses. All of them are spiritual leaders in their homes and churches. The Braggs have nine precious grandchildren. Rett and Sherrill love imparting the call to missions with God to national Peruvians and others in the nations. Rett has ministered in 23 countries and Sherrill in 33 countries. Sherrill completed her M.A. in Social Science and Human Resource Leadership from Azusa Pacific University in 1992. She homeschooled their four children for seven years while they were growing up in Peru. She also discipled national women leaders and did nursing while in the villages. Rett finished his M.A. in Missions from Columbia Biblical Seminary and Graduate School of Missions in Columbia, South Carolina in 1993. They have also done doctoral studies at Biola University in 2005 and the Oxford Center for Mission Studies in England in 2006. They are presently enrolled in the Wagner Leadership Institute doctoral program in Pasadena, CA. The Lord has enabled them to establish five churches in the Peruvian Amazon Basin. They also teach and train national missionary leadership in Peru, Puerto Rico, Mexico, the U.S. and England; and bring church teams and First Nations leaders to Peru. They have just begun a transformational model of an Asheninka Childrens Shelter in Oventeni, Peru in August, 2007. They just produced their first music CD in English, Spanish, and the Asheninka languages: Songs to Our Creator in the Jungle (Canticos a nuestro Creador en la Selva). They are presently in the U.S. raising funding for the Asheninka Childrens Shelter and leadership training projects. They both speak Spanish and the Asheninka languages. They enjoy challenging young people to Go and make disciples of all nations. (Mt. 28:18-20) They are faith missionaries and serve a more than enough God. (II Cor. 9:8) Since 1998 they have received training at Kay Arthurs School of Training in Chattanooga, TN.; the Wagner Leadership Institute in Colorado Springs, CO. and in Pasadena, CA.; Christian International Training in Santa Rosa Beach, FL.
