Show-Stopping Rendition of ‘Little Drummer Boy’

Dolly really did this classic Christmas tune, ‘Little Drummer Boy’  justice with her sweet country voice. Teacher and composer Katherine Kennicott Davis is credited with composing the song back in 1941 with lyrics contributed by Henry Onorati and Harry Simeone. The song is based on an old Czech carol about a young boy who threw down his gun in favor of a drum.

A newborn King to see pa rum pum pum.

Our finest gifts we bring pa rum pum pum pum.

To lay before the king  par rum pa pum pum.

Unforgettable Cover of ‘White Christmas’

Everyone knows this Christmas classic, ‘White Christmas,’ which was written by Irving Berlin in 1954, and made popular by crooner Bing Crosby in the film by the same name.

But Dolly puts her classic country charm on it to make it a favorite version of the song for the whole family.

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas,

with every Christmas card I write.

May all your days be merry and bright,

and all your Christmases be white.

Shepherds quake at the sight.

Glories stream from heaven afar.

Heavenly host sings Alleluia!

And I can't keep from wonderin' how the old folks are at home

Heavenly Performance of ‘Coat Of Many Colors’

Dolly's original song, ‘Coat of Many Colors’ gets us all more in the Christmas spirit. While not necessarily a Christmas song, it is about gift-giving from the heart and attending to one another’s needs. In the song, the mother took a box of cast-off rags, and sewed it into a coat so that her child would have a winter coat. The mother then shared another very important gift with her child--the gift of scripture. After giving the child the coat, she read to her from the Bible about Joseph and the original coat of many colors.

"Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colors." Genesis 37:3

In the song, the child thought the coat was beautiful, and at school while others’ ignorantly laughed at it, she continued to feel blessed.

Oh, I was rich as I could be,

In my coat of many colors my momma made for me.

Let us all remember this feeling of gratitude for our many blessings, both big and small, this Christmas season!
