J. RaChel Fowler was born, raised and educated in Durham, North Carolina. While earning two B.A. degrees (Criminal Justice and Theater)at North Carolina Central University she was active in the Universitys Theater program and the Community Theater. It was in college that RaChel also began studying various forms of dance under Artistic Director Chuck Davis. While in N.C., RaChel performed with Chuck Davis African-American Dance Ensemble (AADE), Cultural Movement African Dance Company and Ayoluwa African Dance Ensemble.
After receiving her 2nd B.A. degree in 1994, RaChel moved to Atlanta, Georgia and joined Pilgrim Cathedral of Atlanta. Two years later in 1996, her spiritual father and beloved pastor, Bishop Kent Branch appointed her over the dance ministry at Pilgrim Church of Atlanta (currently Pilgrim Cathedral of Atlanta).
Although she did not recognize the call to dance, she perceived her Pastor to be a holy man of God with the understanding that the anointing comes from God and the appointment comes from the man of God.
Unfamiliar with liturgical dance, RaChel stepped out on faith. Through prayer, fasting and studying the Word of God, RaChel began her training as a dance minister and teacher. It was beyond the veil that she came to understand that to be an effective dance minister one must first be a worshipper. RaChel was able to use this heavenly training from God and her earthly theater and dance training to birth the Arts Ministry. By 1996, the Lord increased her ministry to include Mime Ministry.
During Bishop T. D. Jakes Woman Thou Art Loosed Conference of 2000; RaChel was afforded the opportunity to minister in dance with other dance ministers from various cities. It was at this conference that RaChel met Sabrina McKenzie and began ministering and training with the Born-Again Dance Ministry of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Her affiliation with Born-Again open the door for RaChel to minister in mime with K&K Mime during the Gospel Heritage Praise and Worship Conference of 2003.
In 2000, the Lord opened the doors for RaChel to start Yielded Vessels, a consultation and ministering organization which allows her to minister, teach and share all that God has given her during these wonderful years at the feet of Jesus. Through the years RaChel has learned that gifts and talents are wonderful, but she desires and depends on the anointing to minister effectively to God and the people of God. She believes that ministering in dance and mime is an emotional expression of Gods Word through movement.
RaChel has also shared the stage with Tyga Graham, Christopher Williams, Jacky Clark, Terrell Phillips and Douglas Miller respectively in various inspirational stage productions. RaChel has taught at Georgias First International Dance Conference (Dancing Preachers International Dance Conference) in September 2005. RaChel was also one of the founding members of the Georgia Chapter of the National Liturgical Dance Network (NLDN).
She was most recently the director and host of "The Word Became Flesh ~ Making the Pieces Fit" Arts Workshop Conference held in Decatur, Georgia - October 2007.
She has recently moved back to her hometown in Durham, NC and continues to minister in Dance and Mime as the Lord leads.
RaChel believes the difference between living and existing is PASSION. Whether on stage or in church, RaChel is passionate about using her gifts to bring glory to God!
RaChel Fowler has made a commitment to yielding her vessel as an instrument of righteousness unto God (Romans 6:13).
A Prayer for Safe Travels - Your Daily Prayer - April 17
God knows all things. He knows our fears. He knows our doubts and the mind-numbing reel of thoughts that continue on a loop as we stand in line at security. The Bible promises that with Jesus, we can fight against fear and put our trust in Him.
