Promise Keepers is an organisation for men. PK runs major Mens Events in five centres in New Zealand each year. The Events are open to all men and focus on life purpose, destiny and issues of character, integrity and manhood based on Christian values.PK was established in New Zealand in 1994. Throughout the year Promise Keepers is also involved with other events and seminars. Promise Keepers also communicates regularly via print materials, email newsletters and radio programs. Our vision is to see Ordinary Guys Transformed into Extraordinary Men, men who will be positive influences in the lives of those people they know and love, men who will act responsibly and be proactive not passive. Men who will lead courageously. Men who keep their promises. Men who are putting promising words into action. The 7 Promises are at the heart of what it means to be a Promise Keeper. In fact, they are really at the heart of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. Being a Promise Keeper is at the heart of living a full life. Were asking you to pledge yourself to become a Promise Keeper. The 7 Promises can be lived out in a number of ways. They are a plumb line you can use every day to evaluate whether your life is on track or starting to veer off course. Here are some characteristics of a Promise Keeper: -He walks with God every day. He is a man of the Word and prayer. He prays for his family, his pastor and others. -He is part of a Mens Small Group. He sharpens others and is willing to be sharpened by them, learning and being accountable. -He faces up to his struggles and temptations with integrity so that he can deal with them. He is free to exercise his strength to be proactive, not passive. He meets life's challenges like an adventure. -He shares his talents and treasure with others and invests in what really counts his family, his church and the mission of PK. His pastor is glad he is part of his church. -He realises that he is part of the wider body of Christ. He is one of the many followers of Jesus Christ, no matter what their church is called or what ethnic group they are. Those things are not barriers to biblical unity. -He can tell others what it means to him to be a Promise Keeper. When he pulls on the PK shirt he is living up to the standard and thinking about how his behaviour affects people. He is ready to answer the question What is Promise Keepers? and use it to explain more about why God is important to him.
