Amy Grant - Grown Up Christmas List (Classic Music Video)
Christian and Grammy Award-singer Amy Grant performed a beloved Christmas song about requesting and desiring good for the world and the people in it.
Christmas is easily, and undoubtedly one of the best times of the year. Family and friends come together to celebrate the season, recognizing and honoring the birth of Jesus Christ, who changed the world forever. Additionally, it’s also the time when children often create lists of wants and desires, things they hope Santa leaves for them to unwrap on Christmas morning.
In what has since become a classic Christmas song, “Grown-Up Christmas List,” Amy takes this idea of children generating lists for Santa in a totally different direction. Instead of asking for selfish items, which would only benefit her personally, she has a more “grown-up” list of requests. She mentions in the song that her list is for “a world in need.”
Amy sings, in the track’s chorus, that she wants no more wars, destroyed lives and for good and right to always come out on top, among other things.
“And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown-up Christmas list”
Amy’s song may have come out in the early 90s, but her requests and desires are just as relevant today as they were several decades ago. There is still armed conflict happening all over the world. People are hurting, struggling and feeling as if they are all alone. Lives are still being destroyed because of the sin that is so pervasive and ever-present in our world.
Amy’s list is much too tall of a task for Santa Claus. Jesus Christ is the only one who could ever fulfill any and everything on Amy’s “Grown-Up Christmas List.” And He is still working, still changing hearts and lives today!
John 14:13 “And whatever request you make in my name, that I will do, so that the Father may have glory in the Son.”
