A Cappella Men of Home Free Sing ‘Stand By Me’

A group of talented vocalists, Home Free, turned in an inspiring and upbeat performance of a beloved classic tune from the 1960s, “Stand By Me.”

Despite what some may believe and think, human beings possess the ability to do some pretty incredible things. The Lord has blessed people with many different skills and talents. Those are not gifts He hands out simply to be doing so or without an intended purpose. Instead, He wants us to diligently use those gifts in a way that brings glory and honor to His name.

One way humans have amazed is by creating spectacular and awe-inspiring works through sound. Music is one of the many areas in which the Lord has blessed individuals, giving them the skills and talents to make beautiful and pleasing sounds to the ear. In a clip posted on YouTube, five gentlemen, Home Free, demonstrate their outstanding voices with ease by giving an a cappella version of Ben E. King’s 1962 classic “Stand by Me.”

While sitting on stools in what appears to be a small, abandoned airplane hangar, the guys, using only the sound of their voices, provide the background music and the vocals.

“If the sky that we look upon should tumble and fall
Or the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won’t cry, I won’t cry, no, no I won’t shed a tear
Just as long as you stand by me”

Their cover is a lovely and delightful version that is more than a little catchy. After listening to this rendition of the classic track a time or two, you’re likely to find yourself with the song stuck in your head, humming it for several hours.

Home Free does not change much, if anything, from the original version. There really is no need to do so either. Classics are classics for a reason. However, their rendition is still sure to please and win over those who are fans of the original.

Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
