‘Jolene’ Battle Duet Has The Judges On Their Feet

Two contestants gave quite the performance while singing a duet to the Dolly Parton classic “Jolene” on The Voice.

Americans love competition. Whether it’s sports, politics or competitive singing programs, Americans enjoy watching two opposing forces battle it out until there is a declared winner and loser. But unfortunately, often, when it reaches that point, half the people still won’t be satisfied. They’ll claim the refs were working on behalf of one team or that the election results were rigged.

While The Voice is ultimately a competition, thankfully, no one ever leaves as a sore loser, complaining about the outcome. A clip posted to YouTube features two immensely talented singers from Team Reba, Al Boogie and Ruby Leigh, singing “Jolene” together, with both hoping to remain on the show.

Both, in keeping with the genre of the beloved tune from Dolly Parton, are decked out in country wear from head to toe. Al and Ruby clearly give it their all, knowing full well that it’s the last performance for one of them.

The amount of musical talent displayed on that stage in such a short amount of time is mind-blowing. It’s a shame that either had to go home. Al and Ruby put Reba in an unenviable position, forcing her to send one of them onto the next round and the other home.

Following their duet, the four judges - Niall Horan, John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire – showered both singers with massive compliment after massive compliment. However, Niall and Gwen both conclude their comments by stating that they’d give Ruby a slight edge in that battle.

Then it comes to the worst part for the judge and the singers, where their coach must make a crucial decision. Ultimately, Reba agrees with her fellow judges and gives the win to Ruby, sending Al home.

But before he walks off The Voice stage, he gives Reba a hug, and she encourages him to continue singing.
