Teen Street Performer Sings Lauren Daigle’s ‘You Say’

Christian musician Lauren Daigle scored a massive hit several years ago with “You Say” and it is now a popular target for covers, including one by a talented teenager in Ireland.

Allie Sherlock treats those passing by to a performance of Lauren’s smash hit “You Say,” as she plays the guitar and sings the beautifully written lyrics. Soon after Allie starts playing and singing the first verse, Allie starts amassing a crowd. Some people are spotted filming the young woman’s performance with their phones.

The lyrics aren’t the only delightful elements in the video. The Irish teen’s voice is outstanding. The young woman’s voice sounds very similar to Lauren’s as she belts out the lyrics to those who have gathered to take in the free sidewalk concert.

As odd as it may sound, while Allie does sound like Lauren in the verses, she switches things up for the chorus. When Allie reaches the song’s chorus and hits the song’s high notes, her voice will likely remind listeners of another popular singer: Miley Cyrus.

“You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And you say I am held when I am falling short”

The song, about life's highs, lows and pressures, is very well executed. The Irish teen possesses a poise and professionalism not usually seen in someone so young.

The video also shows that Allie may have won herself a devoted fan. For the last minute of the nearly four-minute clip, a young child stands just a few feet away on her right side. He is absolutely captivated and cannot take his eyes off her!

“You Say” is a powerful song with a message about the love, mercy and grace of Christ. He is always faithful and will never leave us or forsake us.

Psalm 40:3 “He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in Yahweh.”
