Tim Hawkins Puts Sunny Spin On Classic Song ‘Imagine’

Tim Hawkins Puts Sunny Spin On Classic Song ‘Imagine’

A comedian took a beloved song from a legendary artist, changed a few things and came up with a rib-tickling, updated version.

The four lads from Liverpool, England and their music are known all over the world. The Beatles – Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr – forever changed music, producing such hits as “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” “Here Comes the Sun” and many others.

While they did create fantastic music together, they also turned out classic, iconic songs on their own. One prominent example of these solo hits is John’s anti-war song “Imagine.”

Comedian Tim Hawkins, in a clip posted on YouTube, took John’s song and updated it slightly. One could make the argument that his hilarious version is much more relatable to our time as it incorporates our common complaints.

In the clip, Tim plays the keyboard and sings, giving a great imitation of John’s voice in the song. But Tim’s lyrics differ dramatically from the original set of lyrics.

In the first verse, Tim changes the lyrics, which now give voice to his gripes with driving, construction zones and those more concerned with texting on their phones than driving. He’s also not a fan of people who use the passing lane to drive slowly.

In the second verse, children and their less-than-positive reactions to a few situations are the subjects of choice. Parents will no doubt appreciate these lyrics!

Later in the song, he also mentions a legendary musician and actress. Some people may like her, while others may not. But it’s clear from the lyrics in Tim’s version of “Imagine” that he’s not much of a fan.

Tim also gets audience participation throughout the song. However, the crowd jumps the gun, getting ahead of Tim on several occasions.

This is a hilarious clip and one to cause people to laugh out loud!

Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
