Comedian’s Hilarious Take on Things He Refuses to Pray For Will Have You In Stitches
One comedian’s hilarious take on things he refuses to pray for will have you in stitches. With humor and razor-sharp wit, Jon Crist explains why there are some things that he will not take to the Lord in prayer. Check out the video of this short but thoroughly hysterical clip about prayer. Jon will have you laughing from beginning to end and long after the clip is over.
Prayer is, without a doubt, the most important thing a Christian can do. We are called to bring our worries, cares and burdens to Him, laying them at His feet. Yes, reading the Bible and studying the Lord’s Word is an essential and vital component of a daily walk with Him. But prayer is direct communication with the Creator of the universe, allowing us to talk to Him.
In a YouTube clip, Jon stressed the power of prayer during what was his third stand-up special. He mentioned several instances when he’s been asked to pray on matters that probably should not be taken to the Lord in prayer.
“You ever have someone ask you to pray for something so stupid, you’re like, ‘I ain’t praying for that’?’” Jon said. “Yeah, some things you cannot pray for. My buddy’s like, ‘Dude, can you pray for me?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, absolutely. What’s going on?’ And he goes, ‘I got a drug test tomorrow. I need to pass it.’ I’m like,’Mhmmm, naw, I’m not praying for that.”
He also mentioned an instance in which his sister sent a family group text asking everyone to pray for her son because “he’s having a tough day.” Jon responded to the message, asking for details and wanting to know precisely what was happening with his nephew. His sister replied with a direct message, saying, “He has tendonitis in his thumbs from holding the iPad.’”
“I go, ‘I’m not praying for that,’” he said. “I’m not putting that up to the God of the universe with my name on it. Just widows, orphans, missionaries, ‘Mawi wants to watch ‘Paw Patrol.’ No. Some of the stuff ya’ll sending up, it’s disrespectful.”
Later in the clip, Jon mentions NASCAR, MMA and a group of hikers who had gotten themselves stuck at the top of Mt. Everest and how prayer might be applied to each of those situations.
Finally, he ends the video by hysterically pointing out that there are many different postures and positions to pray, which could lead to awkwardness and confusion.
Mark 11:24 “For this reason I say to you, ‘Whatever you make a request for in prayer, have faith that it has been given to you, and you will have it.’”
