Michigan Nurse Sings 'Amazing Grace' During Shift Change
How sweet that must have sounded when Lori Marie Key, a registered nurse based in Michigan, used her amazing voice to sing this classic hymn to her co-workers. It was a beautiful way to encourage the other nurses and doctors to stay strong for their patients.
"Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
T’was blind but now I see
T’was Grace that taught my heart to fear
And Grace, my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed"
“Beautiful,” comments one person on Facebook. “Absolutely beautiful voice. Praying continuously endless prayers for you all. God Bless. Stay Safe.”
“Amen! We all need to hear this praise during this time of need,” writes another person on the video shared on Facebook. “Thank you, young lady. We all need a little uplift! God bless you!”
This beloved hymn was originally written by John Newton. He wrote the hymn as a way of giving thanks to the Lord after He granted him new life. John’s life completely changed after he became a Christian, and this song was a way to give glory to God and all He had done for him.
While those hospital workers are working tirelessly to help take care of coronavirus patients, that soothing voice of Lori Marie Key singing ‘Amazing Grace’ was sure to lift their spirits and give them hope. May we continue to lift up the ones who are fighting on the frontlines of this pandemic and pray that they will feel God’s peace and presence with them as they go about their days. We know that He is in control and will be with us every step of the way.
