The Holderness Family Imagines If Christmas Songs Were About Quarantine
“Oh hey, everybody! How you doing?” Penn Holderness says at the beginning of the video. “Are you wondering why I’m dressed like this? In the middle of May? With this stuff behind me? Well…”
Then he starts singing the song ‘It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas’ with very different lyrics.
“It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas but just the parts that blow
There’s a line to get in the store, you’re eating a whole lot more
And you’re in pajamas now instead of clothes”
This is so relatable! Waiting in line for the grocery store and spending all day in loungewear seems to be the new normal for most people.
Penn goes on to sing a few more Christmas songs, like ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ and ‘Frosty the Snowman.’ But instead of the usual Christmas lyrics, he sings about it actually being the most horrible week of the year and how Kevin, his mailman, is the only person he interacts with outside of his family.
To end the Christmas song medley, Penn finishes up with his rendition of ‘All I Want For Christmas is You.’
“I don’t want a lot of August, I know it’s three months from now
But the only thing I want, to get the kids out of my house
They can’t take much more of Zoom, they need actual classrooms
Make my wish come true, all I want for August is…SCHOOL”
How hysterical! I know all the parents out there are probably feeling the same way!
“I watched this and started crying. Don’t worry, it was happy tears!” comments one person on YouTube. “It cheered me up, and I just wanted to thank you.”
“My days inside feel strangely better watching you go insaner every day,” writes another person. “Stay safe!”
Thank you, Holdernes family, for always bringing the laughs and reminding us all to smile!
