Singer, songwriter, guitarist, worship leader, was born and raised in London, England and now lives in California.
THE ONE STEP PROGRAM
Steve's story of salvation is a miraculous one, having come from a completely un-churched secular background, asked Jesus Christ into his life in an apartment in the seedy backstreet's of Hollywood at the beginning of 1997. Where upon he was instantaneously delivered from over a decade of cocaine addiction and the spiritual darkness of “new age†belief systems. “I took one step to Jesus and He did the rest†Counsel recalls.
Today he is using his music and the power of his testimony to glorify God and touch the lives of people all across the globe for Christ through his ministry. Heeding the call to take worship to the nations, he has traveled as a missionary to the Philippians and Russia where he saw the radical effect spirit filled worship music can have on lost and seeking people.
Steve has a heart to see the same thing happen here in the USA where he believes his brand of edgy, rocking, spirit soaked worship music, can impact the lives of this lost and spiritually hungry generation, both inside and outside of the church walls.
His songs are ignited with gritty guitar and inspired lyrics, the mix of rock, country and gospel create a musical landscape that takes the listener on a journey, ultimately leading them into an intimate place of worship and celebration in an unpretentious and fresh way. His latest CD "Broken Bones Rejoiceâ€, features a duet with the incredible rock’n’roll worship diva Kate Miner and is produced by Tom Lillo (Lifehouse, Kate Miner).
Recently he completed a 4-year stint as Worship leader at Malibu Vineyard in California where he made his debut as Music Director and Composer for the original rock opera "Urban Messiah".
Steve is currently serving as worship leader at The Refuge Church, N. Hollywood CA. He lives in West Hollywood CA with his wife Shannon.
