Your Nightly Prayer: Evening Prayers for Christians
Your Nightly PrayerWhen Your Prayers Feel Unheard
July 22, 2025 ● 7 minShare this episode
Every Christian will eventually wrestle with the silence that seems to follow heartfelt prayer. Whether you’re grieving a job loss, a broken relationship, or a plea for healing, unanswered prayer can feel like divine indifference. But tonight’s devotion reminds us: silence is not absence.
Kyle Norman gently assures us that God hears us—even when we don’t feel heard. Psalm 34:15 paints a picture of a God who is always listening, always attentive, always near. The temptation in those quiet moments is to believe that we need to be “better” to earn a response—but that’s not how God works.
God’s love is not performance-based. He is with the brokenhearted, and His nearness is the answer we often overlook. As Charles Spurgeon wrote, “God’s delays are not God’s denials.” Even when the answers don’t come quickly—or at all—God’s presence is constant, and His heart is ever open to our cries.
Tonight, if your heart is weary from praying and waiting, let this devotional be a reminder: you are seen, heard, and held by the God who never turns away.

🙏 Your Nightly Prayer
Gracious Lord,
You invite me to pray to you. You invite me to cry out to you with any thanksgiving, lament, or petition I have. In your graciousness, you invite me to come to you in prayer with the fullness that I am, promising that you will meet me in love.
When I struggle to see your response to my prayers, help me to feel you with me. Your presence in my life is better than the realization of any of my requests. So, give me the ability to discern your heart open before me, and your spirit all around me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
🌙 Three Things to Meditate Upon
-
God Sees and Hears You.
Psalm 115 says the idols of this world have eyes and ears but cannot see or hear. In contrast, our God sees and hears us always. Reflect on this truth and rest in His attentive care. -
His Presence is the Answer.
While we may long for outcomes, God’s presence is His ultimate response. Where do you sense God with you right now? Is it in a whisper, a verse, a moment of quiet peace? -
Turn Closer, Not Away.
When prayers feel unanswered, the instinct may be to pull away. Instead, let this be an invitation to draw closer. What might change if you sought God even more in the silence?
