Your Nightly Prayer: Evening Prayers for Christians
Your Nightly PrayerHow to Hold onto Hope When Summer Didn't Heal You
September 20, 2025 ● 6 minShare this episode
Summer often carries our hopes for refreshment and breakthrough. As our nightly prayer and devotional remind us, we imagine lighter days, long-awaited healing, or answers to prayers we’ve been carrying. But sometimes, when the season ends, we realize the things we longed for haven’t changed.
David knew what it was like to cry out and wait. In Psalm 40, he declares, “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.” His testimony reminds us that waiting doesn’t mean God is ignoring us. His timing isn’t determined by our schedules, but His promises assure us that He hears.
If this summer left you still waiting, remember: silence is not absence. God uses waiting seasons to shape us, strengthen our faith, and prepare us for what’s ahead. The wait is never wasted.
Your Evening Bible Verse: Psalm 40:1

🙏 Your Nightly Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Tonight, I bring my waiting heart before You. Sometimes the silence feels heavy, and the delay makes me wonder if You see me. Remind me, as You did David, that You have heard my cry. Teach me to wait with faith instead of frustration, to trust Your timing even when it feels different than mine. Give me peace as I surrender my timetable to You and rest in the truth that You are faithful.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon

You can trust God with your prayers—even when the answer feels delayed.
-
Waiting isn’t wasted. God uses it to grow and shape your faith.
-
His timing may not match yours, but His breakthrough always arrives at the right moment.

Today's Devotional
A Prayer to Rest in the Glorious Gift of God’s Grace - Your Daily Prayer - May 24
The Holy Spirit is our Helper, and He will help you walk in God’s will. You don’t have to muster up your “faith muscles” to see that happen. You simply need to trust that God’s plan for your life will be accomplished, not because there is anything good in you, but because of His goodness and faithfulness!
