We’ll take a closer look to see if this title is appropriate or if it was a marketing device used by the powerful Patriarch of Alexandria, Athanasius. Monks and monasteries will be incredibly important to the development of Christianity in both the west and the east. The monastic orders will produce many Popes of Rome and other of the highest level of Patriarchs.
