Sometimes we just want to be left alone! But- If we shut ourselves off from the world, we can’t be much of a light to people in desperate need of hope. So, of course, these notions are incompatible with words of Jesus found in Matthew chapter 22 when one of the Pharisees asked Jesus which is the greatest commandment in the Law?

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.
