Metalcore Newcomers Heal The Hurt Release New Single 'Forgiving the Sickness'
April 25, 2025

FOR RELEASE APRIL 22, 2025
Metalcore newcomers Heal The Hurt continue to build a name for themselves as one of the most pivotal names to watch with “Forgiving the Sickness,” which is going for radio adds now. They have released a new music video for the song, which is from the band’s self-titled debut EP.
The live performance music video, which is on YouTube now, was filmed and edited by Tyler Byars (Skillet, Demon Hunter, Disciple) on the Southern Exposure Tour with Convictions this spring.
“‘Forgiving The Sickness’ explores the heartache and healing that comes with watching someone you love spiral into self-destruction — and the difficult decision to let them go in order to let them grow,” offers Heal The Hurt frontman Trevor Tyson. “Whether it’s addiction, mental illness, ego, greed, or emotional wounds, the song reflects the tension of wanting to help someone who doesn’t yet want help. Sometimes, the most loving thing you can do is to step back and let them face the consequences of their actions.”
But that heartache is not just outwardly directed.
Tyson says, “I’ve been on both sides — I’ve been the one who hurt people I love, and I’ve been the one grieving over someone I couldn’t save. At the end of the day, we all fall. But when we hit that lowest point, we’re faced with a choice: keep running, or cry out to God and begin the painful but necessary journey of repentance and healing.”
The stakes of that journey are highlighted by Heal The Hurt’s no-holds-barred approach to metalcore, seamlessly blending the melodic and the brutal. “Forgiving The Sickness” was co-written by Trevor Tyson, Michael Felker (Convictions), Josh Bramlett (The Protest) and Alec Gregory (AsFireFalls). It was produced by Nick Gregory and mixed and mastered by Ryan Leitru (For Today).
The single release follows spring tours supporting Convictions and The Protect. Heal The Hurt has also been announced as part of the lineup for Kingdom Come Festival in Indiana and Loud And Proud in Germany later this year. Most recently, Tyson appeared on stage for a collaboration with Lacey Sturm, Brian “Head” Welch and Tommy Green. Heal The Hurt’s quick momentum has been borne out by their viscerally vulnerable lyrics and ferocious metalcore cadence. That formula is present in full force on “Forgiving The Sickness.”
“‘Forgiving The Sickness’ is meant to be an honest anthem for anyone who’s had to walk through the fire of grief, boundaries, and forgiveness,” Trevor Tyson concludes. “It’s a reminder that even in the darkest places, redemption is still possible.”
Heal The Hurt isn’t just a band name — it’s a declaration that music can still be used to heal.
