RETT SYNDROME - and Scoliosis Surgery
Our beloved daughter Moriah was born with Rett Syndrome. Rett Syndrome is a neurological and developmental disorder that occurs mostly in females. Moriah developed scoliosis, a curving of the spine, which is one of the symptoms of Rett. Her internal organs and lungs were beginning to be compressed due to the curving of her spine. Moriah’s doctor had said that if her spine continued to curve, she would need surgery. He also said that there are risks involved with having spinal infusion surgery, such as paralysis. In addition to the possibility of becoming paralyzed, she could suffer from other complications or even die.
