Hello, my name is elmer cheechoo from Moose Factory, Ontario, Canada. And I am a born-again Christian in Christ Jesus since Nov. 14 / 2005. And my wife Maureen since Nov. 9 / 1995. Well itâs been a difficult at times narrow road, but God has been my shield and guide through them dark valleyâs I find myself at this time. He has shown me in His Word as to how I ought to behave and conduct myself as a child of God. To always be in obedience and He does command us to love one another and show compassion to all. As I came to know Jesus as Lord, at 50 yrs. old, it was an appointed time in Godâs timing, the decision I made to call on Him without realizing that it was Him who made this possible as to when I would make this decision. I have never gone to bible school since my conversion but at times I wish I could go to learn more about the bible in depth, theology wise. May be some day but still the Lord uses me for that very purpose for His will and work to be done through me as He does with all His children throughout this world. About the second year as a Christian, I began to go to our local hospital and started visiting the patients that are in there. At first I was kinda hesitant thinking maybe it was a wrong idea, but once I got there I felt deep within me that there was a need there. Which only the Lord could and revealed to me and made me think when I questioned that maybe this is a job for a pastor. And yes I have found that I can do this with the Lordâs help and that the Spirit of the Lord wants to move and it can only move when we put one foot ahead of the other in going forth in the direction He leads us. Well ever since then to this day I go visit them the patients sing songs of praise, read a bible story, share from the Word of God, pray with them, or just be in their presence for they sense a Godly presence when Iâm there, amazing how the Lord works when we participate in the ministry for the sick, poor and destitute. And my wife started to join me within the last year, she was hesitant at first like I did but once she was in there with the patients her perspective changed and she told me that, she felt comfortable around them and the patients need for a Spiritual connection which the hospitals cannot provide but those who go there bringing the good news of salvation and a heart of compassion which only comes from God and through us He reaches out to those we come in contact with. So I have come to know also that when we go to see the sick in the hospital, and Iâm sorry to say that some of the patients we have ministered to have passed on to be home with the Lord, we miss them the memories of laughter, tears the things we did when they were still with us, I thank the Lord for those experiences and also to say that we not only ministered to them but they ministered to us, of their perseverance, endurance, no complaining in their afflictions trusting God that He would look after them. From the messages they heard when it was brought to them, thank You Lord for giving me the strength, boldness and courage to bring the Word to them and I will keep on doing it, Amen!!
A Prayer to Help You Comfort Others - Your Daily Prayer - April 25
Have you ever wondered if there is any purpose in your suffering? We certainly don’t go looking for suffering—it comes to us because life is a journey through difficulties and triumphs. Sufferings are a reminder of what Jesus Christ went through and it is a way for us to encourage others.
