Dramatic Encounter is a dramatic arts ministry that desires to effectively communicate Biblical truth in dramatic form. This ministry was borne out of the heart of Dramatic Encounters founder and principal performer, Emory Colvin.
Who is Emory?
Emory has been acting (and acting up!) since she was a toddler, and the moment she sat in a directors chair at the ripe old age of three, she knew that the dramatic arts were calling her name. Emory began her career in the drama club at her elementary school in the third grade and has since performed and directed on collegiate and community levels, as well as in diverse church settings.
Emory's relationship with Jesus Christ began at a young age and she was called into Christian ministry when she was 15. Knowing the Lords calling on her life and the talents He had blessed her with, Emory pursued a degree in Christian Studies at Mississippi College and also earned major hours in Communications/Theatre, graduating in 2003.
Since the age of 15 Emory has participated in 20 shows, including A Midsummer Nights Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, The Little Foxes, and the one-woman production The Belle of Amherst. Emorys experiences in ministry are diverse. She worked with students as a summer intern and had the opportunity to teach drama classes during summer programs. Out of curiosity, she entered the world of radio in 2001 and had so much fun she wondered if shed really ever need to get a real job. In July of 2003, First Baptist Church of Lafayette, LA called Emory to serve as Associate Minister of Media and Creative Arts. There, she learned a little bit of everything from lighting design to broadcasting, and had the wonderful privilege of leading a fantastic creative arts team.
Following the Lords leading, Emory has committed herself to full-time drama ministry and spreading His love to everyone she meets. Her deepest desire is to know Him and make Him known. Originally from Lafayette, LA, Emory now makes her home in Nashville, TN and enjoys reading (anything by Donald Miller), cooking (Cajun goodies), good music (too many to pick just one) and adventure (isn't that what life is all about?).
The Ministry...
Emory founded Dramatic Encounter (DE) in 2005. Within the ministries short time, it has been greatly blessed by God. The ministry was incorporated in the state of Tennessee not long after Emory moved to Nashville. Then in 2007, DE received it's 501(c)3 non-profit status from the IRS.
Now, Dramatic Encounter is a strong and building ministry which performs around the US and has even been to several international locations.

A Prayer to Help You Comfort Others - Your Daily Prayer - April 25
Have you ever wondered if there is any purpose in your suffering? We certainly don’t go looking for suffering—it comes to us because life is a journey through difficulties and triumphs. Sufferings are a reminder of what Jesus Christ went through and it is a way for us to encourage others.
