Bible Reading
“He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.” - Psalm 40:3

Your public praise matters to someone else’s journey. The works of God in our lives are holy, unique, and, at times, deeply personal. The Lord once gave me a mental image: when He does a work to fulfillment in our lives, it is like a fine pearl. Some wear their pearls for all to see, and some treasure their precious pearls within the safety of the chambers of the heart. When we take the initiative to share such glories with others, we not only glorify His Name but also offer hope to those walking through their own faith journey in real time.

God continually works as Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, throughout the Bible. In Acts 8, this proves true as God sends an angel to Philip, instructing him to speak with an Ethiopian Eunuch he meets on the road. Because of Phillip’s own experiences with the Lord, he knew not only how to provide information but also to offer a true understanding of the man's perplexing questions. In Acts 8:34, we are given a glimpse of how the sharing of faith moved a man to come to accept Jesus as his Savior: “The eunuch asked Philip, 'Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. As they traveled along the road, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.” (Acts 8:34-37). After this, God suddenly sweeps Phillip up into another assignment, providing an astounding miracle story for Phillip and the Eunuch to share. It is said that the new believer went on his way, rejoicing. In the same way, we can look to the words found in Psalm 40:3, “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.  Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.” (ESV). What if sharing your testimony, praising Him publicly, and wearing your pearls for all to see is something that will prove pivotal in another person’s own path?

Let’s Pray

Father God,

We thank You for the countless works, miracles, and pearls You have brought forward in our lives. There are the ones we readily name, and ones that we may not even be aware of that You have done in our lives, and to the sum of the whole, we first and foremost offer a hearty, “Thank You.” Lord, move us to sing a new song of praise unto you, a song that will invoke others to stop and listen, to be bewildered and amazed, not from our greatness, but from Your hand in our lives. We know that life can be messy and confusing, and we can often count such trials as too far gone, so help us to see that You are the One who makes the final call upon such places in life. Lord, we pray for redemption and resurrection that only You can bring, so the very things we counted hopeless will become a praise-filled hope for someone else one day, because of You. We surrender these tender places in our lives unto You, and we rejoice even now knowing that You truly are working all things together for good. May our lives prove to be a spectacle for all the world to see just what You can do, and may we be filled with courage to sing, share, and celebrate these stories. We praise You, Lord.

In Jesus’s Holy Name,

Amen
