Actually the "reason for the season" was an ancient roman festival called Saturnalia (the Greeks also had Kronia) held from the 17th - 23rd of December (Julian calendar) which involves a sacrifice at the temple of Saturn, along with many festivities and banquets in an attempt to reflect the conditions of the lost mythical age. the 23rd day of saturnalia involves giving and receiving gifts (which was stopped by the catholic church during the middle ages :S ) Saturnalia also included delicacies cooked in human shape (ginger bread man) and joyous singing in the streets (carolling) many historians and scholars believe Saturnalia is the origin of all Christmas tradition, that is why other-non-severely-closed-minded-religions do not celebrate "Christmas" because of its Pagan origins. In the pre-Christian era, as the winter solstice approached and the plants died, pagans brought evergreen boughs into their homes as an act of sympathetic magic, intended to guard the life essences of the plants until spring. This custom was later appropriated by Northern Europeans and eventually it becomes the so-called Christmas tree. - Sheldon Cooper :P

Love this song. I can listen to it over & over. Live manager at the mall, great idea.

I would love to see a live manager set up in the mall, next to Santa's workshop, or perhaps "Happy Birthday Jesus" signs hung by the chimney... As we take part in worldly traditions, we have to be intentional about keeping our eyes on why we celebrate Christmas. I for one am tired of people offending me ( one example: Miley Cyrus) and I'm told it's freedom of expression and art, but when my beliefs offend others they want to silence me and take away my right to express my love for the One who created art.

This song is so true . Where is the line for Jesus? Why is the line for Santa? It is Jesus Birthday not Santa. We need to somehow make this season for the children to be all about Jesus not Santa. Marry Christmas!!

What a powerful, beautiful reminder, when we see all the lights, the joy sparkling in the eyes of the children, the Christmas tree in the center of town, hear the carolers singing, of what Christmas truly is! Thank God for the most Priceless, Precious Gift, HIS only Son! Emanuel! The Saviour of a lost, & broken world had come! Celebrate!!!!
