Abstinence in Today's Society
Posted at 03:34 PM on June 23, 2008 by survivoroftheamericanholocaust

I just wanted the say that I was extremely appalled to see a commercial for a !%@l vaccine . There is nothing wrong with the vaccine (other than the fact that it misleads people to think that it cures all types of the disease and not just 4 out of the 100s of types of this disease). The problem that I had was the fact that it showed mothers with their daughters (who looked younger than me and I'm newly 18). The mothers were so proud of their daughters to get vaccinated. BECAUSE THE SOCIETY THAT WE LIVE IN EXPECTS US TO HAVE @@$!. THEY NO LONGER STRESS ABSTINENCE, BUT "SAFE" #@#!.

Luckily, I have parents that expect ME and ALL MY BROTHERS to be pure and abstinent for our future spouses. It is not even "safe #@$#," but no @%! - the way it should be. Read More »

image Sorry to get to you so late. I haven't been on in forever. Honestly, I've asked myself this question before. I've asked, "If I were to suddenly find that Jesus was not God, where would I turn? What would I do?" So, speaking honestly, I would 'find another religion.' i KNOW that there is a God. In that I have no doubt. So, finding a religion worshipping one God and (since Jesus is not God) one that denounces Jesus as God. That is what I would do. I would probably become Jewish. But if you were to ask me what I would do if I found out there was no God at all, that would be like asking me what I would do if I found out I was a boy. I'm obvious not one and I will never truly be one, EVER. In the same way, there is a God - I'm even more certain of that fact than the fact that I'm a girl. You can find God with reason alone. There is a need for faith, but yes, I can prove that there's a God.

image Let me add a few things since I didn't get to read all of your posts. One, atheism is NOT a belief in 'no' God, thats not a correct understanding of atheism. There is NO belief required for an atheist, for God or against God. Its like me calling you a 'astrology atheist', and then say you have belief in NO astrology. Doesn't that sound ridiculous to you? Well as would me having a belief in 'no' God, that statement doesn't make sense to me. Of course I know how you are approaching the arguement, you are coming at me like there absolutly is a God and my belief is to NOT believe. Well again i'll tell you that all you have is 'faith' that there is a God that is all, you can't in anyway prove that statement, thats why belief in God 'requires' you to have faith, if it was proveable or real then why would you need faith? Faith is 'only' applied when there is NO evidence. I have NO religion, a disbelief in religion is NOT the 'religion of disbelief' that sounds crazy. Is that really the angle you are trying to present here? That my disbelief makes it some how a religion? I don't get that. Again i'll try and explain myself because I feel you are completely missing my point. Lets pretend, hypothetically, that Christianity didn't exist, would you be atheist or would you find another religion to have faith in? Answer honestly please.

image And I didn't say you must believe in all Gods, again you are missing my point. I know you only believe in the Christian God but, this is NOT the 'one' God, thats an arrogant statement, there are meny Gods, people have faith in them just as you do in yours, all im saying is that you DON"T believe in those Gods. Lets say for example, the Hindu God Vishnu, if you were born in India would you just believe that this God existed? Lets say you didn't but, you weren't Christian either because you had never been exposed to it, wouldn't you in the eyes of other Hindu's be considered an atheist? But you would answer them that 'there is absolutly no proof for this Vishnu God' therefore you just have no belief, doesn't that make better sense to you then saying that I have a belief in NO belief? If it doesn't exist then how could I have a belief in not believing in it? I know you are going to say that He does exist but, again i'll tell you this is only because you have faith and no other reason but that, you have no proof. So if you want to say my belief is NON-belief then you must first prove that which I am rejecting, the burden of proof is on you. Another thing I will add, why would you think that atheists see no purpose to life? Do you feel your life is more meaning full than an atheists because you are convinced theres an afterlife? Please don't tell me you do because that would end our conversations, I only ask this because the purpose question caught me off guard. I will however say that I do agree with Viktor, purposes do change, when my kids are off to college my purposes may be something else, its hard to predict what they'll be but, maybe they change. Hopefully I live long enough to watch them marry, I have two girls by the way, and at that point my purpose will then change to that of a grandfather, of maybe i'll just buy a Harley Davidson and never accept the grandpa role LOL. Whatever the case I do agree that they'll change, maybe you'll be an atheist one day, I was a Catholic once too, communion, cathecism, confermation the whole thing, look at me now, im an atheist with more %!%@urity than I ever had for anything else. Life is wierd that way, thats why I say just enjoy it. I believe these beliefs in the afterlife stem from mans fear of death, man created this afterlife, in many different forms mind you, to help ease the grief, it is however a primitive belief. You left me a quote now i'll give you one; 'Epicurus' "Why should I fear death? If I am, then death is not. If death is, then I am not. Why should I fear that which cannot exist when I do?".

image LOL, ok ok, I think you took that a bit further than I was going for but, ok I see your point, however, im still stating that atheism is a disbelief in all Gods, you also have a disbilief in all God exept one, I know most people of faith like to use the term 'one' God but that only exists in your perspective, a quick look at the world will show you that there are many other Gods, you don't believe in any of those as I don't either. There are currently 200 religions in the world, only 3 are Abrahamic, the others have their own thing. Reality is that there are other beliefs in many other Gods, just because you live in the US and are raised Christian doesn't make your belief superior to others beliefs. My purpose to life is to have children, as I have, raise them into adulthood and make sure that my family is as happy and as well taken care to the best of my ability. I enjoy life in all of its aspects, I enjoy experiencing everything it has to offer and I will try to be as fulfilled with every possible thing that this world could offer me. I live with the understanding that I will die and will no longer be around to witness the beauty of this planet, I live knowing that whatever I don't experience now or while im alive I will never get that chance and it seems to me a waste of life to not experince all that life has to offer. You on the other hand, as do other believers, live under the hope that there is an afterlife, basically you live for after you are dead, that seems like pure wishful thinking to me. You have absolutly no idea what happens after death, you may have a belief that tells you theres more after death but, no one could ever assure you of that and any attempt you make to explain to me that you know for sure will only by an attempt to explain it using your faith. No one could tell you whats out there, the one thing we know for sure is that we die, everything else is just in the imaginations of humans that fear death and created this after life to give themselves hope to their lives, I enjoy this life, I don't need an afterlife to satisfy my fears, to me it seems worthless to think that way.

image Ok however, your definition was incorrect. I clearly pointed you to the fact that both you and I are atheist towards astrology, neither of us believes what horoscopes say, I hope you are understanding what I mean by this. I know you are not an atheist toward the christian God however, don not try to tell me that there is only one God, there are many, you don't believe in them which would make you an atheist in respects to those Gods. Just by simply saying there is only one God, is pointing out your disbelief in those Gods, your disbelief in them doesn't make them go away, those Gods also have millions of followers and people who have as much faith as you do. It seems a bit arrogant to take your belief and put it above everyone elses, don't be that kind of christian, allow for religious freedom and understand that people have just as much rights a you do to believe that their God is important. They are fellow believers like you, you are from different regions of the world that follow different faiths but, they also want the right to have their Gods recognized, unless you wanna become fully atheist like me and get rid all beliefs, if you don't then I suggest being humble towards other people of faith.

image Or you can go onto google.com or ask.com and type in "Catechism of the Catholic Church." It will take you directly to a cite that has the entire Catechism! You can go easily to the index and look it up for yourself. God Bless ya'll (no I'm not from Texas).

image Because ya'll out there may not be able to get your hands on a Catechism to find out what the Catholic Church believes, I would be glad to help free of charge. Can't do better than that! Post a topic - or better yet a specific question - and I'll look it up and post it word for word. That way, even if you don't believe what the Catholic Church does, you can at least know what the Catholic Church does believe.

image I feel sad that the person on The Virgin Mary posts below took of the most important ones. I said that I felt that they took only the frosting on the cake without taking the actual cake. The most important post was something to the effect of MARY IS NOT WORSHIPED BY CATHOLICS! SHE IS HONORED AS THE VIRGIN WHO BORE JESUS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR!!! This irritated me because not only was the person saying ignorant things, he was also saying that the Church believed these things, which any credible text - especially the Catechism of the Catholic Church - would say that it did not.

image Please pray for me. I am a sinner, though I have the ability to be better. I am lucky to be in a good home, a good community, and a good group of friends, so many others deserve more fervent prayers than I. Just try to remember me tonight when you say your prayers. Thanks.

image I just want to say that I am a conservative Roman Catholic. I fear the way the world is going, but all that we can do is pray and change our own world! I hope this helps a little.

image The Lifehouse skit on the side bar was done at my Diocesan Catholic Youth Convention today in Wichita, KS and I thought it was the best ever! This one is not as good - I think - but it is the best I could find already on the web.
