Romans 3:23. everyone is guilty already without God hardening his heart. Pharaoh lived his life apart from God as "god". Before the hebrews came, Pharaoh was worshiped as a god by the egyptian people already.. But God used Pharaoh to display His power. Pharaoh was far from innocent before God hardened his heart.

From My Husband; I agree. Its hard to say if God hardened his heart or allowed it to be, but the important thing was this this process, (of Pharaoh's heart hardening) was imperative, so that when the Hebrews left, nothing would be left behind. Moses was instructed not to leave anything behind, showing that when God restores, he does it completely. He restores perfectly and completely.

Not so sure because I would have to look at the Hebrew context of the verse, but could possibly mean that He allowed Pharoah's heart to be hardened. Just like satan had to come before God's throne and ask permission to test Job...could possibly be along the same lines. I will check it out and get back to you on that.

I've always struggled with the story of Moses where the bible says God hardened Pharoah's heart... what to make of that?
