Facebook How should Christians respond to people who claim the Bible has errors and contradictions?-Michael Lawrence

that's why there are approx. 37,000 schisms within itself......

  • 2012-05-17T09:41:08

Why did god make Christians so stupid. On the one hand the bible is the infallible word of god and on the other there are mistakes because they are not the original. Can't have it both ways I'm afraid.

I don't think it's the contradictions that are the entire problem with the bible. To me, some things that are a problem are the stories themselves. Take the Flood.... When you look at it objectively, it's the simple story all by itself that is the contradiction. I mean, the bible says the water was 10 feet higher than the tallest mountain....that would be over 35,000 ft...the air temp at that height is below zero and there is very little oxygen. Also, Noah's sons were responsible for gathering up the did they travel to Antarctica or the poles to gather the penguins and polar bears? Who went to North America for the buffalo and Elk, who went to Australia for the koala bears and kangaroos? How did they know to set sail for these previously undiscovered lands and why didn't they record their journeys which would have taken YEARS without current technology (airplaines etc...) These are the things this video did not cover and therefore rendered this video useless.

truth will set you free, praise god.

I'm Reading "The Bible Tells Me So" which addresses this very well and in common language.

Let me add a "P.S." to the comment I made, if I may. Any recent translations or paraphrases of old Biblical texts have been proven that they are just as reliable as the oldest discovered texts. God has guided the hearts and minds of faithful scribes down through the centuries to transmit His written Word, so that what was written several thousands of years ago is the same as what was written in the 20th and 21st centuries. No matter what text is used, a Christian can hold that written text in his hands and declare with rock-solid confidence and accuracy that he possesses the inerrant, infallible Word of God in written form.

Aside from such things as the questions about how old Saul was when he became king of Israel and the first time Quirinius became governor of Syria (in interim) during the reigns of Agustus Ceasar and Herod 1st, there are no errors in the Bible. The are rounding up of tribal-census numbers in the Old Testament in places, and various places in the New Testament that do not mention somethings that other texts do, such as the account of the woman caught in adultery being brought before Jesus, or the Old Testament's description of Lucifer as The Bright and Morning Star--a title of honor passed to him by the Lord Jesus, his Creator, the true and Everlasting Bright and Morning Star, before Satan rebelled and was stripped of his power and position and expelled, seem like contradictions, but are not and require further study on our parts under the Guidance of God, the Author of the infallible and inerrant Biblical Scriptures, to see that differing literary styles over centuries are not in the least mistakes or errors at all.

I don't steal from Peter to Pay Paul.

Because you have believed The Pastors' 0f Paul. And not taught 'The Apostles' Doctrine". You do not know it was (first) through the mouth of The Apostle Peter God gave The Gospel to the Gentiles with His Holy Spirit. Just as The Apostles had received. Acts 10:45 - Acts 15:7

God's Word is self-evidently inerrant. Jesus meant to tell us to call God alone the Father as the ultimate Source of all life and the only Object to be completely trusted and worshiped by mankind. Paul meant himself to be the first-time Gospel giver, a human spiritual nurturer, and a human we can follow and strive to imitate in certain aspects, like today's pastors are to us. And in the Bible time and in most of human civilizations, women and children were not counted in number as their testimonies were not considered valid. God wanted us to have both order, simplicity and compassion.

I would say they are right. Because what we know as the Bible is not the infallible inerrant Word 0f God. Jesus said, call no one your father. Only God Is your Father. But, Paul referred to himself as their father. Paul gave his list of who saw Jesus after His resurrection: He was seen BY Cephas, THEN BY the 12, AFTER THAT BY 500 brethern, AFTER THAT BY James, THEN BY all the apostles, THEN LAST OF ALL He was seen BY me (Paul). - 1Cor.15 - But Paul didn't list Mary AT ALL, Little Lone FIRST OF ALL who seen Jesus.

Such claims have been groundless. Reading the surrounding verses, a little background knowledge, use of simple logic, the basic knowledge in literature and history answer ALL of their questions. Those non-believers keep us studious and we can be thankful. Non-believers WISH there are errors and contradictions in the Bible so they can be at ease in thinking the Bible has no authority so they can continue their moral chaos.
