My heart aches for you James. I know your pain and even your anger. It's at times like these that we want to question the sovereignty of God. We, as human beings want to make sense of these terrible situations and it's so natural to try and place blame. Questioning is never wrong in and of itself. Still the best healing can only come from a heart that is allowed to move from the question of why, to the question of what? Have you ever considered that perhaps God never wanted this for his perfect creation, and it may be a symptom of the fall? Is it possible that sin has caused all creation to fall from the perfect state in which God created it? Perhaps the world (could that include the weather pattern?) is subject to frustration and bondage to decay so that it cannot fulfill its intended purpose? See Romans 8:18-21 and then Genesis 3:17-19. God is not the author of evil, He allows it but we as humans actualize it. I wouldn't even catagorize natural disasters as evil in the largest extent, but a consequence of something more, or perhaps as simple as natural, that's why they call them "natural disasters". While we can sincerely wrestle with the "Why" questions, once we realize that we may never know why, this side of heaven, we can then move forward to the more productive question and ask "What?" What am I to learn from this? It's good that we discuss these things, but always with humility and a desire to not misrepresent Him. His ways are so much higher than ours. It's like an ant trying to understand a computer system. I'll be the first to admit, I don't understand enough to blame him for these tragedies. If you will, join me in this journey to understanding. Here's more food for thought along the path. http://www.godtube.com/watch/?v=FJ9JMMNU

The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord. Job 1:21 KJV This is the last thing Bethany will always remember about her husband!

John 15:13....I feel for this woman, I have been married going on 5yrs and I know I would die to save my husband and he would do the same. Though as this love is a blessing it also can bring pain, I can only imagine the pain she is in. I cried when hearing her story to think of experiencing the same kind of loss...may god bless them both and help comfort her in this time of grief and pain...perhaps her husbands dog will help since I am a dog lover and I know that dogs can be a blessing.

Thank you for sharing this Leah- heartbreaking is an understatement. When tragedies like this happen, it makes us all (or should anyway) think about our lives and our loved ones, and how we treat them. The truth is, it shouldn't take something like this to open our eyes and our hearts. What a lovely tribute to a man who truly loved his wife til the end. My heart breaks for her and so many others these days.
