My Father (LCDR) who was planning to make the Navy a career and his Commanding Officer (CDR Shuff) were both lost at sea 52 year ago yesterday (Jan 7th) when CDR Shuff's A-4 jet experience in flight emergency. My Father guided him back to the USS Independence (CVA-62), however both jets disappeared. I retired from the Navy in 2008.

All military personnel - and their families - who serve...

I am a Canadian vet, though in peace time but this video means so much to all of us. Just knowing we are remembered and respected for what we do, for what we have to give up and for the jobs we do keeps us going. Serving in the military, whether in peace or war, is a very hard job and takes very dedicated people, people who believe in what they are doing and sacrifice so much to get the job done. Do not forget us or disrespect us. We do a very difficult job and sometimes we give up our lives for this cause. We do this gladly for what we believe in.

Lisa I still keep your family in my prayers. Ross paid the ultimate sacrifice. I am very fortunate because my son came home (twice). I pray for all who lost family members or who were wounded. Your family will always be in my prayers

Wow! This made me cry. My brother, Sgt Ross Pennanen, was Army out of Ft Sill, OK, and was KIA on Nov 2, 2003, in Fallujah, Iraq. We buried him on Nov 11, 2003 (Veterans Day). So it's always a hard time of year for me and my family. His son Gage was 7 yrs old at the time, and is now 16. He's been w/o his father over half of his life. All military are heroes, but especially the Fallen! God Bless them all! We miss you, Ross!
